What is the Any Qualified Provider scheme?
Any Qualified Provider (AQP) is a national programme that offers patients more choice and drives up standards of care.
With the AQP programme, you have the opportunity to choose where you are treated for certain conditions according to your needs. You might for example, want to go to a surgery that is a shorter walk, or one that has shorter waiting times.
All providers of the services on offer meet NHS quality standards and remain free to patients, who are referred according to clinical need in line with the NHS Constitution. Each provider must be registered with NHS regulators Monitor and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and run services to standard NHS contracts and specifications.
You can find more information about Any Qualified Provider on the NHS choices website.
Grange Farm Medical Centre and our sister practice Derby Road Health Centre both offer the following AQP services:
- phlebotomy (Starting date to be announced)
- h pylori testing
- ear syringing
- treatment room services (e.g. wound dressing)
